The Trichology Profession
The Trichology Profession is the study of the hair and scalp.
This area is a speciality area and covers hair loss,baldness,thinning,breakage, contagious problems, scaling and itching.
Or any other problem that involves the hair or scalp.
Qualified trichologists complete their studies with the International Association of Trichologists and/or TAFE.
The trichology course involves both medical and natural therapy areas associated with hair and scalp problems.
More specifically, areas of hormonal, endocrine, immunne system, nutritional,nervous system, circulatory system, are all covered.
The trichology course was developed at the University of Southern Calinfornia in 1974-75. The profession
was around long before the course was developed.
Members of the International Association of Trichologists are bound to a strict code of ethics. They are also required to
complete 25 hours of personal development (seminars and courses) as well as an exam on a yearly basis. This criteria
ensures that they are up to date with the most current medical studies in treatments for hair and scalp problems.
